Risk Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a review and analysis of the provision model for the Retail/Lease and Commercial portfolios to ensure its accuracy and reasonableness before submitting the information to accounting.

  • Conduct a monthly static pool analysis to monitor the consumer portfolio for changes in behaviours. Relate the demonstrated changes in repayment behaviours of customers by credit quality, region, make model, and contract term.

  • Generate and revise reports that Management requires to evaluate portfolio risk and trends.  Provide suggestions for risk mitigation measures in high-risk areas or emphasize opportunities to acquire additional business.

  • Conduct back testing of risk models (scorecard, provision models) using statistically relevant measures and provide Management with recommendations regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the forecasting process. Recommend the back test results for management approval and submission for the year-end close process.

  • Analyze potential solutions to reduce forecast variability and enhance the overall consistency of the planning process by investigating model/data anomalies.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background including a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, or equivalent). a Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred.

  • 0-5 years of experience in investment risk research, analysis, and reporting.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, database tools and Microsoft Power BI.

  • Demonstrated portfolio and risk modelling skills (proficiency in SQL, Python, Matlab, VBA, SAS, C++ or equivalent).

  • Working knowledge of investment risk management and performance attribution, reporting principles and practices across asset classes/strategies and markets (public and private).

  • Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve complex issues and problems with strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to think independently and take initiative to seize opportunities and minimize issues.

  • Strong collaborative skills.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to report complex information clearly and concisely.
